“When you are
longing for change”
From Genesis 35: 1 - 15
By
Pastor Sookwan Lee
1 Then
God said to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there
to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”
2 So
Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign
gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.
4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had
and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.
9 After
Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.
I.
Return to your first promise with God
-
He remembers the
covenant and is waiting (Ge 28:20-23)
-
We should remember the
first humble prayer (Heb 10:32-33)
II.
We need to return to trust in God.
-
We should not have faith for our
convenience (Ge 31:19)
-
Meaningful abandonment is more
important than total giving up
III.
Devotion leads to meeting the God of the covenant
-
There is a covenant of God in my life (Isa
45:4)
-
God who waits for our devotion (Jer 31:3)
